Terms of Service

Last updated October 8, 2026

These terms cover your use of EssayRoast, which is run by NeuraOptima LLC, a company based in California (“we”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

The service

EssayRoast gives automated feedback on college application essays. Features and limits (currently 20 reviews per account per day) may change, and the service may be interrupted or discontinued.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission. Use one account per person, and don’t create extra accounts to get around limits or to get more free reviews.

Your essays

Your essays belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them, including sending them to our AI provider, only to provide the service to you. Only submit writing you have the right to share.

Feedback, not guarantees

Reviews are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. They don’t predict admission decisions or guarantee any result. EssayRoast isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the University of California or Common App; we use their names only to identify their essay prompts. Use your own judgment and follow each application’s instructions.

Academic integrity

EssayRoast points out what’s missing and asks questions; it doesn’t write or rewrite essays. You’re responsible for making sure your essay is your own work and follows each application’s rules.

Acceptable use

Not a crisis service

If an essay suggests you might be at risk, EssayRoast may show crisis resources, but it isn’t a counseling or emergency service. In an emergency, call 911. To reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, call or text 988.

Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the same extent, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of $50 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law doesn’t allow to be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and continuing to use EssayRoast after an update means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

California law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes about these terms or the service go to the state or federal courts in Santa Clara County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them there instead.
